4 Tips For Preventing Breast Cancer:
Although thousands of women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the next year, there are things you can do that may decrease your chances of being one of them. While there may be no way to completely rule out your chances of developing breast cancer, there are some lifestyle changes you can make to help lower the risk. Make sure you're getting plenty of sleep each night. According to AARP, postmenopausal women who get less than six hours of sleep each night have double the chance of developing more aggressive breast cancer.
If you're overweight, try dropping a few pounds. It's well known that women who are overweight have a greater chance of developing hormone receptor-positive breast cancer than those who are not. Just by being obese you increase your risk of breast cancer by 30 percent.
According to the American Cancer Society, having more than one drink per day can up your chances of breast cancer. Even having two drinks a day can raise your odds by 21 percent and regular drinking in postmenopausal women will increase your risk of cancer by 19 percent.
Exercise is a good way to help prevent breast cancer. Whether it's walking, working in the garden or cleaning the house, getting up and moving can result in a 30 percent reduced risk.
